Financial Times - Survive the Meltdown

To capitalise on the buzz generated by the euro crisis, the FT wanted to do something topical.

Originally intended to run in the build up to Greek announcement as to whether they were going to default on their debts, the issue was being heralded as the "Meltdown of the european economy".

Europe's melting eh...?

We worked closely with Crayola on this one - after some ad hoc testing which fell somewhere between an episode of Mythbusters and a grade 3 art class we discovered that the heat generated by angled lamps on a 12-sheet billboard were enough to cause crayon wax to melt sequentially over a series of days.
So there we were, all set to rock 'n roll; client loved it, we had the science down when... invetably the Hong Kong council decided that raining wax on pedestrians was rather low on their list of priorities right now and as such this one has remained in the vault.

We've since discovered that the Bangkok and New Zealand governments are slightly more lax when it comes to dousing their citizens with slabs of Cosmic Cobalt and Lemon Glacier so there may be life in the old girl yet.
